Okapi Aalst is experiencing a difficult season, far from the expectations of the management and fans, but is not giving up. Despite the problems caused by the coronavirus, which have a financial impact on all sports clubs and therefore also in Aalst, the management has made efforts to strengthen the team. After careful consideration, discussions with the financial department and numerous evaluations, the coaches chose Jack Pagenkopf (24 years old, 1m90), who was the starting point guard for 4 years with the Dixie State Trailblazers in the Western Athletic Conference and impressed in his last year with 15.1 points per game, 6 rebounds and 6 assists per game. In his first professional year, he played in Bundesliga A (2nd Division) with Ehingen and scored 15.5 points, handed out 5.2 assists and grabbed 4.1 rebounds per game. He is a creative and versatile player who can score himself or find the right teammate.
Omar Calhoun’s contract has also been extended through January 31.
The staff also notes that Steff Schauvlieger is working towards a return and wants to reach an equitable solution with Boyd Van der Vuurst.
