Heroes Den Bosch doesn’t make it

Heroes Den Bosch did not manage to reach the second round of the FIBA Europe Cup. In an empty Maaspoort they lost 75-92 to Parma Parimatch, where a 16-point victory was necessary to continue in Europe. Top scorer for Heroes Den Bosch was Edon Maxhuni with 20 points, for Parma Parimatch it was Artsiom Parakhouski and Artem Zabelin, both with 22 points.

The first quarter is 26-22 in favor of the home team. Until 11-9 the game is fairly even, then Heroes Den Bosch makes a small gap through 16-11 to 19-11. Mike Carlson and Austin Price put the home team up 24-15, but Parma Parimatch climbed back into the game and the difference after the first 10 minutes was 4 points.

Heroes Den Bosch could not win the second game against the Russians of Parma Parimatch. Especially Parakhouski and his 2.12m is almost unstoppable under the boards and has already 18 points halfway through the game. At Heroes Den Bosch, it is Maxhuni with 15 points who leads the list in terms of scores at halftime. The quarter will go to Parma Parimatch with 21-23, so the difference at halftime is only 2 points in favor of Heroes Den Bosch: 47-45. That has to become 16 in the end to advance….

It didn’t look like that in the third quarter either. Parma Parimatch grabbed a lead for the second time in the game at the beginning of this quarter and held it throughout the quarter. Heroes Den Bosch stayed reasonably close, but was no longer able to really turn the tables at this point in the game. Via 52-57 it became 58-62, after which Heroes Den Bosch crept closer again. Both teams went into the last quarter with a 68-68 score.

Parma Parimatch switched gears at the beginning of the last quarter and quickly ran out to a 70-78 lead. The next two minutes were very messy on both sides and both teams went coald for a while. Juskevicius breaks the spell for Parma Parimatch (70-80) and Heroes Den Bosch can, with four minutes left on the clock, forget about the next round. The players realize it too and so Parma Parimatch can run further to 72-88. In the end, the Russians won their last game in this group with 75-92 and can start preparing for the next round of the FIBA Europe Cup.
