29-year old and 2.04 metres tall Mindaugas Kacinas has signed a one-year contract with Donar. The power forward was born in Lithuania and played college basketball at South Carolina.
After his adventure in America, he played in Lithuania, in Iceland and in Spain. Last season he played for Rio Breogán in the ACB league in Spain. In the 2020-2021 season, he was the MVP of the LEB Oro Cup. During the promotion to the ACB in 2021, Kacinas was an important part of that team.
Technical director Drago Pasalic is excited about the arrival of Kacinas. “He is a good defender, an excellent 3-point shooter and he has a good character, which suits Donar. We also spoke with his previous coaches and they told us that he is a real team player and has a great work ethic. We are convinced that he will fit in well with the team.”
Kacinas, the tenth player in Donar’s squad for the upcoming season, is excited about coming to Groningen. “When my agent started talking about playing for Donar, I started asking around and calling. That led to enthusiastic and positive stories. Then I had contact with the coach and the technical director and those were good conversations. The conclusion was clear to me, next season Donar is the right place for me to play.”
