Donar only plays for honor

In Group A of the FIBA Europe Cup Donar has no chance to advance to the next round. The last game in the group is therefore an honorary one. Wednesday night Donar hosts the also eliminated Kapfenberg Bulls at home.

The previous meeting between the two teams gave Donar the only victory in the group stage. At 85-89 Donar was just a little too strong for Kapfenberg in Austria, which did not win at all in this year’s edition of the Europe Cup.

Although the game in MartiniPlaza is doesn’t really count for anything, there is of course the sporting honor to fight for. Both Donar and Kapfenberg Bulls will want to leave the European stage with their heads held high. Donar will also want to create momentum for the next games in the BNXT League, for which the team has brought in reinforcements.

Donar recently landed Jimmy Gavin and managed to get Donte Thomas to return to Groningen. Both players are however not eligible to play against Kapfenberg Bulls.

The game in Groningen starts at 19.30 hours. Due to the corona measures, the game will be played behind closed doors.
