BETFIRST NEW TITLE SPONSOR BNXT LEAGUE

The BNXT League, the brand new, cross-border Belgian-Dutch basketball league, today presents the first title sponsor in its short history. betFIRST, a renowned Belgian provider of online sports betting and casino games, has committed itself for three seasons to the BNXT League, which from now on will be known as the betFIRST BNXT League.

Wim Van de Keere, general manager of the league, is pleased and proud of this substantial partnership. “We started with 21 top clubs with an ambitious and innovative plan, which is not feasible without the right partners. betFIRST understands sports, understands marketing, is a major, valued player in Belgium and in the future hopefully also in the Netherlands. This makes them the right party to give us a flying start.”

Timothy Mastelinck, CMO of betFIRST Group, shares the enthusiasm: ‘Through Bob van Oosterhout (sports marketer and director of the BNXT League), with whom I have worked for many years, I have been continuously informed about the developments in basketball. This new League is a great initiative which will undoubtedly give the sport a boost and give Belgian/Dutch talent even more opportunities to develop. betFIRST is happy to contribute to this! Basketball is a modern sport, which fits our business and our customers very well. We are a major player in Belgium, but certainly also intend to apply for a licence in the Netherlands. We are now focusing on the Belgian market, but to work in the future on our brand awareness and the good feeling online players have with betFIRST in the low countries through the BNXT League and basketball is a great opportunity for us. We can’t wait to activate the cooperation in various, creative ways, in which we will certainly also firmly take up our social role! But for the time being, we will not be giving brand exposure in any way in the Netherlands and the league will ‘simply’ be called BNXT League there. Dutch players will not be able to open a player account with us. In this way we want to clearly show that we fully respect the legislation in all respects”

The chairmen of the Belgian and Dutch top leagues, both also directors of the betFIRST BNXT League, warmly welcome the arrival of the new sponsor: ‘Wonderful to start the new season immediately with a title sponsor. It underlines the commercial potential of the League and therefore gives a mature impression to the outside world,’ says Maarten Bostyn. His Dutch colleague Ramses Braakman adds: ‘To be able to work from the start with a brand that has sport in its DNA and fully shares our ambitions, makes it easier for us to build the BNXT League brand and thereby bind the new, younger generations to us. A classic win/win!

The betFIRST BNXT League officially kicks off on 11 September with a media day, followed by the BNXT Supercup; both organised in the Maaspoort in Den Bosch. Two weeks later, Friday Sept 24th, the first round of play will take place.
